Wikipedia for President

http://blogs.cqpolitics.com/politicalinsider/2008/08/did-mccain-plagarize-his-speec.html

I'm not a fan of plagiarism in any circumstance. This article shows similarities between McCain's speech on Georgia and Wikipedia. Is Wikipedia really the best we can do? Seriously.

Oh Lordy!

How is it that youo always seem to find the plagiarism?!

A singsong voice in my head keeps saying "someone should be fired, someone should be fired." I guess this is what our students who think it's no big deal to 'just change around the words' and pass things off as their own without noting that the thoughts are NOT THEIR OWN IDEAS!!! are the ones who will be running our country someday...something great to look forward to, huh?

Seriously, yesterday I finally got to go to the Northwestern University Library with their yucky Dewey Decimal System. Really, it is just about the crappiest system around and Dewey ought to be shot...oh wait, he's already dead. But I do not understand why he thought ALL of the world's knowledge could be divided into 10 categories that would then be subdivided further and further. It is really a stupid and confusing system.

When I got to the library with its snippy Northwestern students all I could think was that most of them were only there so that they could say they went to Northwestern and get their names on a piece of paper. I thought how few of us are actually in it for the real learning....when it came down to it, the only ones I could think of were you and me (and also JD). I'm not sure I can count any of our fellow students like the one who read only the one book for that one class and that was it.

I don't know--it just seems like that you should actually try to learn the things you are supposed to, not just the bare minimum and/or copy and fake your way through the rest.

I looked at that webite. Pure plagiarism I say.

I hope you were able to enjoy some reading yesterday. I seem to be doing nothing today but playing online. I can't make myself write anything serious.

Although, I did recently find out what I SHOULD have done with my life. Evidently, chemical engineering. Why didn't I think of that? (Maybe because I would suck at it). But, according to this website, I would be really great. http://astrocenter.astrology.msn.com/msn/ArticleAstrologyHome.aspx?sd=20080805&GT1=21001

Maybe it's written in my stars, but I just didn't get the memo.

"Pisces: It’s no secret that Pisces is multitalented. A major in English, literature, or history could help you to spend what would be your dream life: staying behind the scenes writing historical fiction, poetry, or erotica. A more financially rewarding use for your probing mind would be teaching, research, or investigative work of some kind. Pisces, you, too, could be an engineer, and majoring in chemical engineering could be your ticket to that high-end salary in which you water babies swear you aren't interested."

Evidently, I also have a desire to write erotica. Maybe I'll combine the two.

Bleach: "Baby, you're looking hot today."

Ammonia: "Oh, yeah... so are you honey."

Bleach: "Let's combine to form a deadly compound."

You always do know how to make me laugh and laugh. I have been laughing at this since last night.

Mine says that all Tauri have natural talent (and smooth voices, too), and that we would be great at careers with money, economics, or banking. Or diamonds and furs. Yes furs. I would love to work in the fur industry. Maybe as a seal clubber or mink killer.

Livvie keeps looking at the screen to see what is so funny--since I am on Michael's laptop she can sidle up and pull the screen back. I think it's Michael's fault she is so active--he wanted to name her Olivia after all and now she is just like the Olivia in the kids' storybook. Then again, isn't the Alice in Alice in Wonderland also a bit like that, too? I guess I was doomed from the start. No blessed, I mean blessed. I really am lucky to have a child who is bright and energetic. She saw your picture on the blog page and said "That's Tammy! And some flowers too! I want to see Tammy JD!" It wass cute, but a little sad too"

Anyway, I am putting off both getting in the shower and doing a little reading of The Insolent Slave, as she is fairly quiet while watching 'Shoopy Garden,' which is the Arbor Day Charlie Brown special--yes they made one based on Arbor Day.

I hope you are getting good work done!

Thanks for cheering me up so much!

Catherine

PS--Did I tell you that I have found YET ANOTHER neighbor who lets her cats indiscriminately breed and run around the neighborhood unneutered/unspayed.

Yay.
