I have to say I was really nervous lying there, waiting for them to turn the screen my way, looking for any sign of something I could recognize. Flashes of grey formed a strange kaleidoscope as the technician ran the ultrasound wand across my belly. Sometimes she pressed hard, and it became slightly painful. She and the doctor checked for everything else first. Then they found the baby. They examined our baby's heart: four chambers, beating along at a good pace, major blood vessels in place. They measured baby's belly: a very round, perfect balloon, floating with a string tied to me. They looked at baby's brain, zooming in from straight down, showing this new world with its two hemispheres. They found and labeled kidneys, bladder, feet, arms, thigh bones, and spine. They commented: "wonderful spine." Then they looked to identify baby's sex. After a lot of waiting and prodding, even bouncing the wand on my belly, baby revealed he is in fact a perfect little boy. And they gave us the pictures to prove it. But my favorite pictures are of his sweet profile and when he touched his hand to his face. It looked like he might even be sucking his thumb. Finally he placed his hands together, seeming to clap approval at our further discovery of who he is.
Our sweet baby boy.

I am so super-excited you have no idea!!!!
I already called everyone and told them and they are happy and excited too!!!
Yay yay yay!!!!!!
HOO-RAY!!!!!!
I actually just clapped in front of the computer screen.
Yes, I actually clapped. Like a one year old. Not even a four year old or a two year old, but a one year old.
Man I love you guys!
Catherine (about to clap again)
I am also laughing at myself because I love the pictures of his sweet little face and yet I am SUCH a dork that I cannot for the life of me tell what the heck the bottom two pictures are, even though you already told me what they are AND they are clearly labeled. I have never ever been able to read/see ultrasounds at all.
When I went for Livvie's US, they only gave me a picture of her spine, and the only reason I can tell what it is is because it is darn near impossible to miss a spine picture.
But I love the pictures anyway!
Thanks Catherine! Yes, the pictures are rather difficult to distinguish, especially since I took them using my cell phone, e-mailed them to myself, and then uploaded them. I hope we get our printer/scanner fixed soon! Thanks for all your excitement & support.
