3 months pictures

These were taken on my birthday, but I just didn't get around to posting them. I thought I might as well now. I can already see how he's changed. It's amazing how fast they go from "infant" to "baby" stage. It's difficult to believe Jonathan will be 5 months old soon. Time goes quickly.

Radishes

I love radishes. They're up! They made my day yesterday. We've had a lot of rain, so I hadn't been out to check, but there they were, in a cute little row. Yay for radishes!
This morning J.D. said Jonathan was a little Fraggle who would eat the radishes. And J.D. was a Doozer.

Big Plans

Here is my sketch of the garden I recently planted after J.D. broke up all the soil by shovel. It's my first attempt at a real garden of our own. I hope something grows! (I also hopefully planted things a little straighter than I can draw!) We'll see.

So far, it's a battle just to keep the little forest creatures out. Yesterday there was a fuzzy rabbit lying right where I planted the carrots! How did he know? And a crew of squirrels from the jungle next door seem endlessly fascinated by the corn seeds.

To help with that, J.D. bought me a plastic owl from Home Depot to scare them away. I call him Hooty. He sits on our deck surveying the garden right now. But, I'm not so sure Hooty works because I saw a squirrel on the opposite deck end, having a stare-down with him. Eventually the squirrel ran away. (It's difficult to win a stare-down with a glass-eyed creature). I also sprayed pepper oil on the ground to help discourage those silly squirrels.

Every morning after changing his diaper, Jonathan and I look out the window to make sure no squirrels are eating our future garden.

4 months

Jonathan had another visit to the doctor today for his four month shots... ouch! But he is doing great and is quite a big, healthy boy at 17 lbs. 13 oz. and 25.5 inches. Every bit of which has been nourished by Mama. Sometimes I hold his foot in my hand and say "I grew this!"

Other moments when I think about it, I still can't believe he's mine. It's overwhelming. I just hug him and carry him and today made him laugh by kissing his hands as he grabbed for my hair.

Sweetheart

Your hair on top is growing in blond; right now its length looks spiky. You are almost 4 months old. You're so curious about the world with your bright eyes and happy, sweet disposition. You laugh the most with your daddy. You have started to notice Athena and Sophie. Your favorite book is Panda Bear. I am very proud of you.
